I wonder if Chris K had any idea his quick hack would still be in use after all
these years..... I see references in fedora-devel as far back as 2003....

There are certainly a number of potentially useful enhancements that could be
done; the difficulty is making the time to do them once the script does 'just
enough' to get the immediate result done.....
